DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque Athletics has announced that Jack Paweski of the Soo Eagles has committed to attend the school and skate for the Spartans NCAA Division III men’s hockey program.

“We began the process with Jack, and his family, early in the New Year, said Spartans head hockey coach Seamus Gregory. “Out of the large class we have coming on board, he arguably has the most upside,” provided Gregory. “He checks every box that we are looking for.”

Leading the Eagles in offensive production this season, Paweski, who turned 20 earlier this month, averaged well over a point-per-game, with 71 in 53 games played on 19 goals and 52 assists, to finish ninth in NOJHL scoring.

In 110 career league contests for the Brighton, Mich., product, he registered 103 points, on 31 tallies and 72 helpers.

Paweski also skated for Team NOJHL West at the Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge back in mid-November.

Adding to what his latest commitment brings, Gregory stated: “Jack has good size, plays with an edge, and was Top 10 in NOJHL scoring as a 19-year-old.”

Members of the NCAA D-III Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, the U of D Spartans are based out of Dubuque, Iowa.

Another NOJHLer, in Jackson Truchan of the Soo Thunderbirds, recently committed to the program as well.

Meanwhile, four NOJHL alumni were on the Spartans’ roster during the 2023-24 campaign.

They were forwards Jonathan Lush (Espanola Paper Kings); Thomas Gazich (Powassan Voodoos) and Jake Lamberty (Soo Eagles), along with defenceman Brandon Rossetti (Timmins Rock).
